I was born in Berlin and studied graphic design at the Lette Verein. I learned to paint with Christine Klemke, daughter of Werner Klemke. Since then I've worked from a studio in Alt-Hohenschönhausen, Berlin.
My process is slow. An object usually sits in the studio for months before it earns a canvas. I want to know its weight, the way light catches its edges, the colour it actually is. A sitter gets the same patience, which is a lot to ask of a friend. Each painting takes between four and ten months; most are oil on linen, painted in thin, deliberate layers.
